Continuo Organ - Opus 1
Work has begun on the new chamber organ originally intended for St. Thomas-on-The Bourne, Farnham, where it was to be used to accompany of music in the Lady Chapel, and of early choral music in the Choir. It will now be stored in the workshop or some other suitable location when not out on hire.
The instrument will three stop continuo type organ, moveable, and will have three independent ranks on mechanical action: Stopped Diapason 8’, Chimney Flute 4’ and Fifteenth 2’, and a compass of c1 to a58. It will be tuned to A=440Hz, so it can be used with a variety of modern instruments and other organs.
Initial work has now been completed on much of the pipework, which is secondhand, and the keyboard, and cutting for the soundboard is about to take place.
