Continuo Organ - Opus 1
Work has begun on the new chamber continuo organ using existing pipework. The organ is to be a three stop continuo type organ for the accompaniment of music in small spaces, and of early choral music. It will also be suitable for the performance of early organ repertoire.
The instrument will have three ranks, Stopped Diapason 8’, Chimney Flute 4’ and Fifteenth 2’, and a compass of c1 to a58. It will be tuned to A=440Hz, so it can be used with the main organ.
Initial work has now been completed on much of the pipework and the keyboard, and cutting for the soundboard is about to take place.
Further details are available here.
And restoration of a wooden Stopped Diapason pipe.
The keyboard can be seen below during the restoration process.
