St. Bartholomew’s Church, Egdean, West Sussex

Cleaning & restoration of this fine small Walker organ began on 7 November 2006, including a restoration to equal temperament.  The work was completed in 2007 with the organ being cleaned, the voicing checked and regulated, and the instrument tuned to A=422Hz.  The final work on this organ included the fitting of a new panel to the back. The organ is now much brighter than before.

This small organ was built in 1972 by J. W. Walker and Sons.  At some point since then it was re-tuned to unequal temperament, however this has now been reversed as it was never intended to be anything but equal temperament.  The action is light and responsive, the whole organ is very compact, and the pipework is very fine, being all
